Here are some common questions asked. Please visit our kiosk at 470 Belleville and we can get you started with the tour.
How do I download the app?
Go to your app store on your phone and type in Voicemap. It’s free to download. Set up an account (only your name and email address) and you can access the tour from there.
How do I access the tour from Voicemap
When you purchase the foodie passport from either our kiosk space (470 Belleville Street) or online you will be sent an 8-digit code. Use this code to open the tour and have access to the tour indefinitely.
Do I have to do the tour all at once in the same day?
No! You have 2 weeks starting when you pick-up your foodie passport to access the included samples. You will have access to the commentary and online stories indefinitely. So you can do the tour over multiple days and at your own leisure.
How does the app work?
VoiceMap’s walking tour app gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace. You can start our walks at any time and stop whenever and wherever you like, for as long as you like. You don’t even need to hit pause. The app uses your location to play audio automatically, at exactly the right time and place, and when you start moving again, playback will too. It also gives you directions, making it much easier to put your phone away and immerse yourself in your surroundings, not the screen.
Do I need internet connection?
You can download our audio tours with a single tap before you leave your WiFi zone. They come with offline maps, and you don’t have to pay for data while you’re out exploring. When you pick-up your passport from our kiosk space you can access our free wifi. We will also charge your phone for you!
How will I know where to go?
Your phone’s built-in GPS is accurate to between 5 and 15 metres. Our storytellers use this to make magic, pointing out tiny details at exactly the right time. They use it to give you directions too.
Can I share my tour code with another person?
No. When you access the tour using the code it can not be used again on a different device.
Can we share the samples on the tour?
Sure. Each passport contains a set of samples that you use to redeem. One passport = one set of samples. You are welcome to share the samples among your group.
How much walking is involved?
It depends on the tour:

How much food is on the tour?
Depends on the tour but it is meant to be a small taste of what the city has to offer. For a detailed description of the samples visit the tour webpage or chat with us at our downtown kiosk.
What if I’m vegetarian or have allergies.
Unfortunately we do not offer a tour with a vegetarian option, we will launch this in August. The samples are pre-determined and cannot be changed. Visit the tour webpage for a detailed description of each sample including ingredient list. Keep in mind that the tour also includes history, stories, and hidden gems, if you need to skip a stop due to dietary concerns the tour would still be enjoyable.
Do I need to leave a gratuity at the stops?
Leaving a gratuity in the service industry is common practice and we highly suggest you do so. A loonie or twoonie will do!
What if I lose my foodie passport?
Unfortunately we can’t replace lost passports and you will need the passport to access the samples. Keep it in a safe spot!
What if I don’t like the suggested sample and want to order something else?
We are unable to swap out samples. We included specific samples for a distinct reason and we really want you to try what we have picked out. If you want to skip a sample or give it away you are welcome to. But we hope you give everything a try!
What if I want to order more things not included in passport?
You are welcome to order anything you like at each stop but the passport only includes the one sample.
Where do I pick up the foodie passport?
We are located at 470 Belleville Street. We are inside the Steamship Terminal Building. We share the space with the Starbucks. Enter through the side of the building. For our kiosk hours visit our contact us page.
